Data That Reveals

We offer a full theory of change – transforming scattered and underused data into a powerful engine for equity and opportunity. We ensure that: data initiatives are shared and not siloed; LGBTQ+ groups gain the skills and ownership to drive data-based advocacy; existing data is explored and brought to life; and our findings are applied to policy and to unlocking development financing

Economic Analysis

The following two visualizations bring our data to life — please feel free to dive in and toggle between variables. The first visualization shows the demographics of respondent as well as their experiences of exclusion in 10 important parts of life (e.g. family, healthcare, housing, violence, etc.). We disaggregate between LGBQ, transgender, and heterosexual-cisgender respondents to show the unique challenges of LGBTQ+ Belizeans. The second visualization shows our regression analyses. A bivariate analysis shows significant relationships between socioeconomic status and various types of violence. A multivariate analysis then shows significant relationships between socioeconomic status, various types of discrimination, and various types of violence. We welcome you to explore these important findings...

Our LGBTQ+ Data Library

The library is open. Below we have the work that's been critical to the success of Data LIFT in Belize. The first is our report, which explores in-depth the data from the visualizations, presenting a legal and empirical analysis on the situation for LGBTQ+ Belizeans. From a legal perspective, it finds there is strong impetus for the state to act on behalf of LGBTQ+ people from a rights-based standpoint. From an empirical perspective and analysis of 560 survey respondents, there is a critical need for the state to promote LGBTQ+ economic inclusion and reduce harm, based on anti-poverty and inclusive development needs. Following the report, we have other key documents following our LGBTQ+ Data Roundtables

Unveiling Insights

Here are the two presentations from the LGBTQ+ Data Roundtables. The first was hosted by the U.S. Embassy and Ambassador to Belize, with Koppa Lab and UniBAM and dozens of participants. The second was in collaboration with the University of Belize, co-chaired by the CEO of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, again with Koppa Lab and UniBAM

Rapporteur's Reports

Two outcome documents from each LGBTQ+ Data Roundtable, containing detailed notes on presentations, report findings, and collective ideas from participants on how to use the data to drive policies of economic inclusion
